AWBW has come to curate and document the efficacy and relative capability of the COs and presents that information in easily understood tiers, providing at-a-glance information to enable players to experience matches that are on largely even footing, should they so desire. While highly skilled players can put on a good showing, none are invincible.Ĭommunity-run tournaments are held fairly regularly, both for fun and for testing metrics for given game-play formats. The game-play has proven to have the depth and variety to endure over the years and not simply become a ‘solved’ system. With the site nearing almost 20 years of operation, this has allowed the community to really dive into the details of unit interactions and come to understand the game-play on a more than passing level. ADVANCE WARS BY WEB DAYS OF RUIN SERIESSome years after Dual Strike was released, the inclusion of Dual Strike COs was made, though any COs featured in both games would default to their Advance Wars 2 incarnations.īroadly speaking, the goal of AWBW has been to provide ‘close enough’ multiplayer capability among the Advance Wars userbase in light of the series not having any means to do so until Days of Ruin, which changed a large degree of the rules compared to earlier entries. While units and COs largely behave as they do in their handheld counterparts, some allowances have been made, mostly for reasons of coding though playability has been an occasional consideration. If you don't finish the last Bike off this turn, it shouldn't be able to do much damage anyway. Your Artillery should be able to reach one of the Bikes, and your Mech and Tank should have no problem cleaning up. The following turn, have your Mech pull around and attack the enemy Artillery again from the north. Use one of your enemy Tanks to take out the last Recon unit, and then have your Mechs in the mountains take a shot at the Artillery Unit from the west. The next turn will see the end of your weaker tank, but your Artillery unit can now be used to attack the last enemy Tank. The scene should look like the picture above on the right. The Tank that has not yet moved should be used to attack the enemy Tank from the west. Use your Mech in the mountains to attack the Recon due north. Attack the next Recon with your Mech on the road from the south, and then finish it off with your lesser-ranked Tank from the west. Move your Artillery into the small gap in the mountain where it will be protected. The enemy will advance, but once again, won't get a hit in. ![]() Move your westernmost Mech to the road and keep the other in the mountains. Move your other Tank up, placing it just south of the other Tank. It will, however, be very vulnerable to your Artillery, and you can finish it off with one of your Tanks, attacking from the west. The enemy will advance, and the closest unit will be a Recon that should still be too far away to attack you. Lastly, pull your Artillery two spaces north (even with the tanks) and have it wait. Now have each of your Mechs attack these Infantry units from the sides to finish them off. Pull each of your tanks up and attack the Infantry units due north of each one.
